Today we’re showing you how to make Restaurant-style Mexican Black Beans and guess what? They’re also super easy to make. So let’s quickly jump into the recipe.
If you’ve got to try these beans, you can use canned beans or you could even use beans that you made at home. We would like to make the beans in the instant pot it’s super simple. After the beans will become softer then turn off and do not drain the water from it. make sure a little amount of water would be there.
Black bean recipes Mexican Ingredients:-
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- ½ tbsp ground cumin
- ¼ tbsp cayenne pepper optional
- 2(15 ounces) cans of black beans undrained
- ¼ tbsp salt
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves chopped.
Steps for making Black bean recipes Mexican style:-
To start the Black bean recipes Mexican style you’ll need 1 yellow onion. You really only need a small one. This one is a little big so maybe we won’t use the whole thing, but we’ll cut off the ends and then dice. We like to go for fairly small dice so that these blend in well with the beans.
You’ll need to mince, 3 cloves of garlic and you’ll need some spices as well so get those ready as mentioned on the ingredients. Along with two 15-ounce cans of black beans and you want to make sure that you do not drain them. You actually want all of the liquid that’s in with the beans.
Next we’ll head on over to the stove. Get 1 tablespoon of cooking oil heated in a skillet over medium-high heat Then we’ll add in all of our diced onion and get that cooking.
Saute these for about 5 to 7 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent. Then once those are soft you’ll add in your minced garlic. You’ll need 3 cloves, minced, and get that cooking as well.
Garlic burns really easily so you really only need to cook it for 60 to 90 seconds to get the best flavor. Spices can also release their flavor with heat so add in 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin and about 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to give this a little kick and let that toast as well.
Then after about 30 seconds, we will pour in our 2 (15 ounces) cans of black beans that once again are not drained. Now a lot of times restaurants will add in some lard because fat has a lot of flavors and it makes this super delicious. We’re going to skip that to make it a little healthier but you could always add in some lard or shortening or butter if you want that added creamy fatty goodness.
You’ll want to let these cook just enough to heat the beans all the way through about 2 to 3 minutes. Then you’ll want to salt these to taste We’re going to start with about 1/4 teaspoon but the amount of salt you add depends on whether or not you used low sodium black beans.
Super simple, super easy to make the black bean recipes Mexican styled and it goes great with any Mexican meal. We will garnish ours with a little bit of freshly chopped cilantro but we are ready to eat!
