You wish to know how tofu is prepared at home in an easy way. so let me tell you it’s made from Soybean and the extraction is a little lengthy process which is considered to be the best for people consuming a vegan diet. Secondly, for those who are giving importance to calories and are considering weight loss for them tofu is the best option.  In Addition to vitamins & Minerals, tofu contains zero cholesterol and contains less fat.

Overall 65% of the population have lactose intolerance and they cannot digest milk-based items hence tofu is considered to be the best option for this.

How tofu is prepared-Ingredients

  • 500 Grms of Soaked soybeans
  • Lemon Juice (1 lemon)

  • Soak 500 grams soybeans overnight
  • Rinse well before use

  • Blend the soybeans
  • Blend little at a time with enough water to cover the soybeans

  • Use cheese cloth to strain the soybeans

  • Press as much as you can to get the liquid until the mixture gets dry
  • The Pulp which gets remained in cheese cloth is known as Okara or soy pulp
  • Now start to boil the soy milk
  • strain the Milk before cooking to get the smoother tofu
  • Pour the soya milk into a large pot with 1500 ML water
  • Stir frequently and simmer for about 15 Minutes
  • At this point, the foam will start to rise so be careful a bit not to let it over boil
  • Lower the heat when foam rises up
  • Remove the bubbles from the top of the soy milk
  • Simmer for another 10 Minutes
  • Pour the soy milk into the pot for making tofu
  • Prepare Juice with 1 lemon and add 4 tbsp of water
  • Heat up the soya milk, wait till it gets almost boiled and turn off the heat
  • Slowly pour the lemon mixture, do not over mix and make sure not to stir too much
  • Let it sit for 15 minutes, the curds will separate on its own
  • Meanwhile prepare a tofu mould (as shown in Picture)

  • Slowly pour the curd into the tofu mould

  • Soak in water for 30 min for a firmer texture and to remove the bitterness
